HEARD: Neighbourhood Youth – ‘Feel Our Cold’

Following on the Springsteen > The National > Gang Of Youths groove, Neighbourhood Youths add a distinctly 80s flavour to the genre with a track that could easily soundtrack the earnest and lovelorn capers of a young John Cusack or Emilio Estevez. The guitars shimmer and shine, the drums boom and thunder, and the whole contraption glides along on glittering rails, as smooth a ride as an Audi Quattro. Instead of staring at its feet it looks off into distant horizons, far-gazing not shoe-gazing, a glittering analog gem.

They’re launching the single in Melbourne on the 7th August at The Gasometer – if you’re in Melbourne you should go, it’ll probably be amazing. Also, Fountaineers and Halcyon Drive are supporting, so the full lineup’s solid as a blimming house.
